Director of Center for Myokine Convergence Research

Kim, Hyeon Soo MD, PhD
Welcome to Center for Myokine Convergence Research

The Center for Myokine Convergence Research was established by being selected for the
‘2023 Leading Research Center in Basic Medical Science(MRC) ’ project by the Ministry of Science
and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

The goal of this research center is to develop technologies for disease control through
integrated research on myokines, muscle-secreted substances.

To achieve research goals, the participating members include basic science researchers at
Korea University College of Medicine, leading researchers at the hospital,
and the Daewoong Pharmaceutical New Drug Development Center,
conducting research that connects basic science and clinical trials. Based on this collaboration,
we plan to achieve world-class research results and promote technology commercialization.

This research is expected to provide a foundation for scientific understanding
of exercise, enable a molecular understanding of the relationship between exercise
and disease, and ultimately provide a biological basis for the development of exercise replacement
technologies.

The research center has to ambition to grow into a regional hub in Asia and become one of the top three global research centers by 2030 in the field of myokine research, currently led by Europe
and the United States.

Thank you!
